El Pinacate y Gran Desierto Trip
CactasEl Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar is located around the cities of Puerto Peñasco, Sonoita and San Luis Rio Colorada in the state of Sonora. From the United States it is a mere 3.5 hour drive to the Reserve on Mexico 8 to mile marker km 51. From Mexicali it is about 4 hours via the new Coastal Highway. It is here you will find the official office to the Reserve, the Biological Station and the visitor center. Soon there will be a new state-of-the-art visitor center a few miles south. The drive will be well worth it!
