FEATURED EVENT: ZAPP's Gospel Show Promises to be Anything but a Drag!

SAN FELIPE - The Gospel Brunch for is coming up fast, January 12 at La Ventana del Mar in El Dorado and tickets will be gone before you know it.
Tootie tells me she has a new performer she is bringing along this year, in addition to the Drag troop from "Bitchy Bingo", last year's sold out fund-raising event for ZAPP's Spay Neuter Project.
Just to clear up any misconceptions, this Gospel Show is "So Wrong in So Many Ways." So for those of you concerned that it might be too reverent for your taste, you have my word, it won't be reverent at all. Tickets are $20 for the show only, and available at 11 different locations around San Felipe, as well as the El Dorado Swap Meet Saturday morning. Don't miss this "R" rated, over-the-top benefit for ZAPP (Zero Additional Pup' ulation Project).

Baja Nueva Art Show - Valentina
Saturday, January 10 Baja Nueva is featuring the works of Valentina Ragsdale. Born and raised in Chelyanbinsk, Russia, Valentina studied at the Chelyabinsk Art College (1975-1978) and at the Art-Graphic faculty of the Nizhniy Tagil Pedagogical University (1978-1983). For many years she worked as a teacher of painting and drawing. Several years in Sochi.
As an artist she works in different creative and production groups. She has produced work ranging from paintings to interior design. Her preference is oil and pastel. Her favorite genres: portrait, still-life and landscape. She works in style of Russian realistic school.
Many galleries of Chelyabinsk take Valentina`s paintings with pleasure to display. She has participated in art exhibitions since 1978 in Chelyabinsk, Moscow, Sochi and other cities. Her first individual exhibition was in 1994.
Her works are located in the private collections of Russia, America, Germany, Israel and other countries...

6th Annual Taste of San Felipe

SAN FELIPE - The Rotary Club of San Felipe is gearing up for the 6th Annual "Taste of San Felipe" that will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.
Over 20 eating establishments, from taco stands to large restaurants, will again prepare samples of their specialties to satisfy our taste buds.
This event will help fund the many community projects the Rotary Club undertakes in San Felipe and enables the Club to obtain grants from the Rotary 6th Annual Taste of San Felipe - El Sabor de San Felipe International Foundation.
Tickets are only $15.00 or 200 pesos and will be available as of December 17, 2008, at the People's Gallery and at the Cachanilla Vendor's Market on Saturday mornings and, of course, from all Rotary Club members.
This year we have extended the time of the event so that participants can visit more restaurants. The tasting tour is from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Ticket holders are free to choose the order in which they wish to visit the restaurants. Come and join us for this fun event.
3rd Annual Caminata (Cancer Walk)
The SAN FELIPE CANCER WALK is a project begun by two local (cancer surviving) women who had a good idea. As the news of their project spread, they were quickly joined by others, including cancer survivors, and a Steering Committee was formed.
The SAN FELIPE CANCER WALK is a FUND RAISING PROJECT to benefit poor local Mexican residents, including those who cannot read or write, with no or insufficient health insurance to provide for their cancer treatment.
The SAN FELIPE CANCER WALK is a 2-kilometer (1.3 miles) opportunity FOR YOU to help men, women and children you've never met.

The 3nd International Blues & Arts Fiesta is a presentation of the San Felipe BC Lion's Club & Mexico Living Guide, to support of the community of San Felipe. Live Blues, Beautiful Art & Sculpture, Amazing Talent all encapsulated in cool sea breezes and majestic mountains. An outdoor concert and art event like no other. Held downtown San Felipe at the base of the mountains along the Sea of Cortez.
